FAQ for Message Manager Deluxe v3.03

Can I have a message display once every 30 days?

We have a feature that allows you to only show the message every x days. This feature combined with the Cookie feature allows you to keep the loadmsg.exe application in the users login script forever. If the user has already seen the message and it has only been 20 days, the loadmsg.exe application will close. Once the user logs in on the 30th day of not seeing the message, the message is displayed.

The cookie option prevents the client machines from seeing your message more than once. Just select the cookie Tab, check the option to use the cookie, and enter in a unique identifier for this message. Then for each button you define, you can specify which of them would write a cookie (prevent the message from showing again).

When LOAD_MSG.EXE is initially ran, it will check the system (in the specified location) for the existance of the cookie file with the unique ID. If this does not exist, it will display the message. If the cookie exists, it will close silently.

If you want to display the message once for a user on one machine, you can select the Registry option. This will write the information to the local registry for that local user.

If you want to display the message once per machine, you can select to write the cookie information to a file. Selecting this option you can choose to write the cookie to the root of the system drive, or you can pick a local drive to write the information to.

If you want to display the message once per user, you can select to write the cookie information to a file. Selecting this option you can choose to write the cookie to the user's HOME network drive or a specific shared network location mapped to that user. In most cases businesses create a private network drive to store personal files, this drive is a standard drive letter across the network. Writing the cookie to this location will prevent the user from seeing the message again, even if they log into another computer.
